Happy Gut Bread Recipe by Honey Australia

This is how you make 'Happy Gut Bread' with honey!

Serves 10 

Prep time: 10 minutes. Cooking time: 35 minutes. 


  • 1 cup almond meal (100g)  
  • ¼ cup walnuts, crushed (30g)  
  • 1.5 cups rolled oats  
  • 1 Tablespoon psyllium husk 
  • ¼ teaspoon salt 
  • ¼ teaspoon bi-carb soda  
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder  
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  • 2 large eggs  
  • 3 green apples, grated  
  • ¼ cup pitted dates, chopped  
  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil (60ml)  
  • ¼ cup honey (85g)  
  • ¼ cup reduced-fat Greek yoghurt (65g)  


  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. Grease a loaf pan and line it with baking paper.
  3. In a large bowl, mix dry ingredients (almond meal, walnuts, oats, psyllium husk, salt, bi-carb soda, baking powder, cinnamon)  
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs until pale in colour and fluffy. 
  5. Add the whisked eggs, olive oil, honey, yoghurt, apples and dates to the dry mixture and stir well.  
  6. Pour mixture into the loaf tin and bake for 35 minutes or until an inserted skewer comes out clean. 
  7. Sit and let cool, then it is ready to serve.
